SRI SRI 1008 SRI SATYAKAMA TEERTHARU

Sri Satyakama Teertharu was the pontiff of Shri Uttaradi Matha. He was ordained Sanyasashrama by his guru Shri SatyaParayana Teertha. His Purvasahrama name was Shri Shrinivasacharya.

Sri Sathyesta Teertha was the pontiff of Shri Uttaradi Matha during the period from 1871 to 1872. He was ordained sanyasashrama by his guru Sri Satyakama Teertharu.

Shri Satyadheera Teertha was pontiff of Shri Uttaradi Matha during the period from 1886 to 1906. His purvasahrama name was Shri Jayacharya. He was ordained sanyasashrama by his guru Shri Satyaveera Teertharu.

SRI SRI 1008 SRI SATYAPRAJNA TEERTHARU

Shri Satyaprajna Teertharu was the pontiff of Shri Uttaradi Matha during the period from 1942 to 1945. His purvasahrama name was Shri Jayacharya. Shri Satyaprajna Teertharu was ordained sanyasashrama by his guru Sri Satyadhyana Teertharu.

ABOUT THE BRANCH

The Atkur branch of Sri Uttaradi Math is very close to Kolpur (on the other bank of river Krishna). This branch is very sacred with 4 Moola Brindhavanas present here. This branch is currently taken care of by elderly brahmin dampati. There are 2 rooms with a hall for the accomodation of the devotees offering very basic facility. Teerthaprasada and accomodation are very limited in this branch and devotees need to contact achar in advance for the same. Large scale temporary accomodations are made available during the Aradhana.

Atkur is reachable by road from Raichur (30 KM) and Gulbarga(170 KM). The nearest bus stand is Makthal (50 Km) bus stand on the Raichur-Hyderabad route and Raichur (30 KM) bus stand. The Krishna Railway Junction (34 KM) and Raichur Railway junction (30 KM) are the nearest railway stations. The map route for the 4 places is: Raichur -> Atkur -> Kusumurthy -> Kolpur -> Makthal. The overall travel distance of this route is 116 KM with a travel time of 4 hours.

When Sri Vedavyasa Teertharu was on his for Chaturmasya Vrata, a boy fell down into river. Sri Vedavyasa Teertharu saved him using his tapas-shakti and gave him ashrama, and named him as Krishna Dwaipayana Teertharu After getting Sanyashrashrama, Krishnadwaipayana Teertharu did akhanda tapas of one Crore Vedavyasa mantra japa and had the darshan of Sri Badarayanaru (Sri Vedavyasa Devaru). That is why his name is after Sri Vedavyasadevaru (whose other name is Krishna Dwaipayana).
