Reality
Reality or a Tattva, is defined as the one which is not superimposed
i.e which is an object of valid knowledge.
For example, the pot or mat we see in front of us is a
Tattva, as it is an object of valid knowledge - ‘This is a pot’
The rabbit’s horn on the other hand is not a Tattva, as it
is superimposed. There is no thing like a rabbit’s horn in the world as rabbits
do not have horns. In this case, the horn of other animals is superimposed on a
rabbit to give rise to a cognition - ‘The Rabbit’s Horn’. Therefore the knowledge ‘The Rabbit’s horn’ is
termed as invalid knowledge and the rabbit’s horn is not a Tattva because it is
an object of an invalid knowledge.
